Aluminium 2017 Circles are produced using a heat-treatable aluminium-copper alloy that is of high strength and good machinability. It has around 4% copper as an alloying element, with other elements such as manganese and magnesium, and a tensile strength of about 390–460 MPa, and a yield strength of about 250–380 MPa (subject to temper). Despite it having poor corrosion resistance, surface treatments can be used to protect it. Aluminium 2017 is also widely employed in T4 or T6 temper to achieve highest strength and performance in precise applications.
