Aluminium 2014 wires are manufactured from a heat-treatable aluminium–copper alloy with about 4 % copper, and small amounts of magnesium and manganese, for excellent mechanical properties. Usually delivered in T4 or T6 condition, they have tensile strengths of 440 to 490 MPa and yield strengths of 370 to 450 MPa. The alloy has good machinability and retains high performance when drawn. While having fair corrosion resistance for other aluminium alloys, it can be enhanced using coatings or anodizing. Wires of Aluminium 2014 have high strength, fine structure, and uniform performance under severe conditions.
